Key Club
Thomas Jefferson Key Club
Key Club members around the world are learning how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with their local Kiwanis club, high school students make a positive impact as they serve others in their schools and communities.
Key Club Pledge: “I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.”
National Art Honor Society
National Art Honor Society
The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) was established by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) in 1978 to inspire and recognize students who have demonstrated passion and dedication through their art and community service. Participation in NAHS provides your students, faculty, school, and community with invaluable benefits—including peer recognition, leadership growth opportunities, college and career preparation, recognition of your art program, and so much more. Students have the opportunity to publish their work in NAHS News (a semi-annual, full-color digital publication), as well as apply for inclusion in the NAHS exhibition, an annual juried show held at the NAEA Studio & Gallery. Additionally, your students can participate in valuable community service projects, be eligible to apply for scholarships and awards and purchase NAHS supplies and graduation recognition merchandise. Additional program details can be found on the NAHS website, NAHS Link, at www.arteducators.org/nahs. In this climate of high-stakes testing, the arts are critically important in developing the habits of mind that nurture human potential and prepare our students for success in today’s world. NAHS recognizes our creative leaders and magnifies the innovation, skills, and scholarship that your art program brings to your school and community. We work together to achieve a shared vision that ensures a quality, comprehensive education for all students across the nation.

National English Honor Society
National English Honor Society is a high school organization for students that excel in various aspects of high school English. Students are invited to join NEHS in the spring of their Sophomore and Junior years. In order to remain active in Thomas Jefferson's chapter of NEHS, members must maintain As and Bs in all English classes, complete 6 service hours (2 must be academic), and participate in NEHS activities and meetings.
Thomas Jefferson's NHS participates in tutoring and school events such as festivals and dances at various schools in Jefferson Parish.
National Honor Society
National Honor Society induction for eligible Juniors and Seniors will take place late in October. Students must have a cumulative unweighted GPA (grade point average) of 3.5 and exhibit leadership, integrity and commitment to service. Students are invited to apply and eligible parents will be notified about the induction. Sophomores will be eligible to join after the first semester if they meet the NHS requirements.
Student Government
Student Government assists in decision making for Thomas Jefferson Academy events and is a recognized member of LASC. Student Government consists of elected members chosen by the student body. These students act as representatives and these representatives serve as a liaison from the student body to the administration. Student Government also serves as a leadership group that represents Thomas Jefferson at external school functions and within the community. These representatives will meet with other Student Councils at different schools across Jefferson Parish to incorporate leadership skills, gain methods for promoting school spirit, and fundraising to help charitable non-profit organizations.
Page Turner Book Club
The Page Turner Book Club is open to all book lovers who enjoy reading a variety of genres. We typically look through websites such as Book Hub to find interesting young adult selections, choose a book upon which a movie is based, look at book list recommendations, and listen to students' suggestions. Sometimes life becomes so busy that we end up leisurely enjoying our chosen novel before engaging in often spirited discussions. We meet once a month during lunch, and all book loving Jaguars are welcome to join! Be prepared for lively discussions, widening your perspective, and for making new friends.
